What the project delivers

Answers people can act on, not just numbers.

Most building questions arrive with a tape measure and a deadline. The platform is built around three promises that shaped every page.

An answer in one pass

Enter the measurements you already have and get quantities, coverage, weight or cost figures back in seconds, with sensible defaults and unit switching instead of setup screens.

The method stays public

Each calculator page shows the inputs it uses, the formula behind the result and a worked example, so anyone can check the maths before ordering materials or booking work.

Built for the phone in your hand

Lightweight, responsive pages that stay readable on a phone at the site, on a tablet in the truck and on a desktop at the kitchen table, with no app to install.

Featured work

Six tool groups, one consistent experience.

Material quantity, measurement, cost and planning calculators, organised by the job in front of the user rather than by internal taxonomy.

Concrete and masonry

Volume, bags, blocks, bricks, rebar and mortar for slabs, footings and walls.

Concrete volume · Slab · Block · Brick · Rebar · Cement

Roofing and exterior

Roof area, pitch, rise, run, slope and material quantities for coverings and trims.

Interior and finishes

Paint, plaster, tiles, flooring and wall areas for finishing and remodel work.

More than a number

Three tools, three worked examples.

Each calculator carries its own explanation, formula and example. These are real results from the published tools.

Concrete volume
Length4 m
Width3 m
Depth100 mm
Volume1.2 m³

Depth can be entered in millimetres or inches, and the 5 to 10% allowance for spillage and uneven bases is noted on the tool page.

Slab, footing or pour

Turn plan dimensions into the volume you order, before wastage.

Open the calculator
Roof area and pitch
Footprint10 m × 8 m
Roof pitch6 : 12
Pitch factor1.118
Sloped surface≈ 89 m²

Roofing material is ordered from sloped area, not the footprint of the building, so the pitch factor is applied before coverage is calculated.

Pitch, rise, run and slope

Understand the roof before estimating the covering.

Open the calculator
Paint quantity
Room4 m × 3 m
Wall height2.4 m
Coverage10 m² per litre
Two coats≈ 6 L

Door and window openings are subtracted from the wall area first, then coverage per coat is applied, so the estimate matches how paint is actually bought.

Rooms, walls and coats

Buy the right number of tins the first time.

Approach

Four steps, repeated across every tool.

The same method was applied from the first concrete calculator to the newest finance tool, which keeps the platform predictable to use and quick to extend.

01

Start from the real question

Each tool begins with a question people actually search for: how much concrete, how many tiles, what will it cost. Scope comes from the job, not from the software.

02

Design the shortest path

Fewest possible inputs, sensible defaults, clear units and an instant result. Nothing is asked for that the user cannot measure on site.

03

Show the maths

Every page documents its formula, its assumptions and a worked example, published openly in a dedicated method section of the site.

04

Keep it free and fast

No account, no app, no paywall. Lightweight pages that load quickly on a phone with a weak signal at the edge of a site.

Content system

Calculators come with the explanation.

Tools alone leave people guessing. Alongside them sits a guide library covering measurement methods, worked examples and how-to articles, plus a published calculation policy for the whole platform.

  • Construction guides and how-to articles written for practical site use
  • A "How We Calculate" page documenting formulas, rounding and assumptions
  • Per-page examples that show how inputs become a result
  • Category hubs for exterior measuring, masonry measuring and interior work

"The goal is simple: help you turn a practical question into a result you can use, with fewer steps along the way."

About the maker

An independent project by Park JiSeong.

BuildersMeasures was created for people who need a useful calculation without unnecessary friction: builders, homeowners, renovators, students, DIYers and project planners working through measurement, quantity, cost and planning questions.

Everything on the platform, from the calculator logic and the interface design to the guides, examples and published formulas, was researched and built as an independent project rather than a corporate product, which is why the tools stay free and the method stays visible.

Common questions

What people ask before they start calculating.

Are all BuildersMeasures calculators free?

Yes. The platform is built around free online calculators and practical tools. No paid subscription is required to use them.

Do I need an account or an app?

No. The calculators run directly in the browser, with no account, download or installation step in the way.

Are the results exact?

The tools return practical estimates based on the values and formulas shown on each calculator page. Measurements, material specifications, local requirements and site conditions should still be checked before ordering materials or making project decisions.

How do I choose the right calculator?

Start with the job in front of you. Pick the calculator for the material, measurement, cost or project type closest to your question, then follow the inputs and examples on the tool page.

Can I use the site on a phone, and can I suggest a new tool?

Yes to both. The layouts are responsive for phones, tablets and desktops, and the contact page is the place to suggest a calculator, report a problem or share feedback.

See it live

Put the calculators to work on your next project.
